Statement in memoriam Dr. Fernando Cervigón

Venezuelan science bids farewell to an illustrious man who transformed his love for the sea into immeasurable contributions to Venezuela’s marine sciences.

Every Venezuelan marine biologist has at least one book in their home or laboratory written by Dr. Cervigón. The compendium of books on Venezuelan marine fish is an obligatory reference for every biologist working in the area. This is just a brief example of the contributions of Dr. Cervigón, marine biologist, ichthyologist and researcher. We would have to add the Margarita Marine Museum (mandatory stop for the tourist who visited the island) or the School of Applied Marine Sciences in Macanao, of which he was founder, and even then we would still fall extremely short.
